I teach life to seventh graders...for bureaucracy purposes we have to call it social studies.
What does your ideal school or classroom look like?
Ideally there would be no school ( I am a big fan of unschooling). But in the transition period...the school would be replaced by the community center where there would be every age from preschool to the senior citizens. Learning is natural. The thought of boxing kids up and needing licensed learning experts to teach them what they need to be successful in life is outdated. The center would be the hub of learning in the community in which different people could be brought in, and plenty of free transportation so kids could go out to the community (and beyond) and be with mentors and businesses. Learning would be self-directed, and the outcomes and products would be authentic.
Something like that...still working out the bugs :)
