I am a K-6 Technology Integration Specialist and STEM teacher. I also present nationwide, and train districts in the implementation and use of Google Apps For Education. I am a Google Certified Teacher (Class of 2007, yay!) and a Google Educator. I am also part of the organizing teams for several Edcamps.
What does your ideal school or classroom look like?
I would love a school where students were grouped by ability and interest instead of by age. It would have a lot of modular learning spaces that could be arranged any way needed for lessons and activities. The majority of the curriculum would be project based learning as opposed to stand-alone subjects. Students would learn using real-world situations and problems. Students would help direct and lead their learning. One day...
If you were to lead a session at Edcamp USDOED, what would it be about?

Have you ever attended an Edcamp?
Um...that would be a resounding YES. Please don't ask me to list all of them, since I am a total Edcamp junkie and attend any within a four hour driving radius. Let's just say it's way over 20 and leave it at that. I am also on the planning teams for Edcamp STEAM, and Edcamp Philly, among others. You can often find me at Edcamps in the NJ area running Meri's Mobile Makerspace.
