How are you involved in education?
I am an upper elementary school librarian. Right now I teach every student in grade 5 and 6 for 45-50 mins. a week. It doesn't sound like much but I know that what I do helps students achieve higher. I know this because studies have been done in my state that prove it! I know that directing them to the right information and the right books makes a difference. I use technology in the library in various ways including green-screen and paper-slide videos, QR Codes, podcasts, and various iPad creation apps. In the past I have served as a K-4 school librarian.
What's your ideal school or classroom like?
My ideal library is one where technology is abundant. If a student has a need, it is filled. I want a library where students are able to create things not just read about them, so, a 3D printer would be nice. And the books would put themselves away :)
If you were to lead a session at Edcamp USDOE, what would it be about?
