How are you involved in education?
I am the Supervisor of Technology Integration at the West Morris Regional High School District and a Google Certified Teacher and Trainer.
What's your ideal school or classroom like?
My ideal school incorporates and models digital citizenship and literacy. Schools should offer public Wi-Fi and invite students and faculty to bring their own device. I do not believe one device suits all. In addition to school issued devices, schools should provide access to various devices so users can select which device suits their personal learning style. Students and staff should have access to iPads, Chromebooks, Android tablets, iMacs, PC Desktops and Laptops, Mondo Boards, and video and document cameras. Students would be able to rent out Chromebooks at each district library. Schools should leverage the power of Google Apps for Education and an LMS as a online hub for content creation and curation that serves as a student e-portfolio and allows staff and students to experience a blended learning environment. For example, teachers can assign digital assessments and assignments that can be handed in via Dropbox and annotated. An LMS provides a one stop shopping experience where all assignments are posted. Schools should provide a seamless technology experience that exposes students to many digital platforms and devices.
