I am currently an elementary teacher/librarian, working with students in kindergarten through fifth grade. In our library, my students and I are actively reading, creating, and connecting. We love collaborating with other classrooms across the country and using technology to share our stories and learning. I have also enjoyed connecting and learning with educators from across the country through Edcamps, twitter chats, and other professional development opportunities.
What does your ideal school or classroom look like?
My ideal classroom would be designed to meet the needs of its learners. Learning spaces would be flexible and comfortable. Technology would be as readily available as pencils and crayons, and used to create and share student learning with others across the hallway or across the country. Students would be engaged in interdisciplinary projects with authentic audiences, and would be excited to be a part of something awesome.
If you were to lead a session at Edcamp, what would it be about?
-Why Mentors Matter (for both students and teachers)
-Bringing the Outside In: Connecting Classrooms through Technology
-Reimagining the Roles of School Libraries
Have you ever attended an Edcamp?
